We now have more capabilities to monitor important data on our built and natural environments, or precisely track\u00a0local environmental factors such as rainfall intensity and temperatures. However, these new data opportunities can only be unlocked, if the data is efficiently integrated, processed and analysed to derive useful and actionable insights in a timely manner.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><ol id=\"events-list\" start=\"2\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Reducing Carbon Footprint<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ol><p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Singapore targets to achieve a\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nea.gov.sg\/our-services\/climate-change-energy-efficiency\/climate-change\/singapore%27s-efforts-in-addressing-climate-change\">36% reduction in Emissions Intensity (EI) from 2005 levels by 2030<\/a>. Our collective efforts to reduce our carbon footprint have to happen on all fronts, starting with as early as the planning and design stages of property developments.\u00a0 At the same time, we have to find opportunities in existing systems, buildings and infrastructure, and improve on their operations and maintenance.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><ol id=\"events-list\" start=\"3\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Planning Our Urban Environment Better<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ol><p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">HPC can be harnessed to improve the design and planning of our cities, and thus enhance the quality of life of local communities. Architects, urban planners and municipal service operators are supported by decision-making tools that allow them to navigate the complex needs of diverse populations.\u00a0 Further, these tools can help them analyse and even predict how communities behave and interact in their environments and the services in place, such as traffic management and utilities.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><ol id=\"events-list\" start=\"4\"><li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Building Greater Resilience for Climate Change<\/strong><\/span><\/li><\/ol><p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Adverse weather events, worsened by climate change, will disrupt our everyday lives and business operations. HPC solutions can help simulate the numerous possibilities of future scenarios such as flash floods and haze, so we can better anticipate, prepare for and respond to these events. color: #000000;\">As part of your application, you will be required to register a team with a minimum of 2 members and maximum of 5 members.<\/span><ul><li class=\"nolist-subpoint\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">These will be the key members liaising with the organisers in case your proposal is selected to proceed to the solution development phase.<\/span><\/li><li class=\"nolist-subpoint\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Only registered members will be eligible to receive trial accounts to access HPC resources, and to attend the mentor consultation and training sessions.<\/span><\/li><li class=\"nolist-subpoint\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; color: #000000;\">Team to include at least 1 Singaporean\/ Permanent Resident\/ Work Pass\/ Student Pass holder based in Singapore working for Research Institutes, registered company or studying in an IHL.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li class=\"events-no-list\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Your team may consist of members from the same entity, or across different entities.<\/span><\/li><li class=\"events-no-list\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Your team must include at least one Singaporean, Singapore Permanent Resident, Singapore issued Work Pass, or Student Pass holder.<\/span><\/li><li class=\"events-no-list\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The majority of your team must be able to be physically present in Singapore to participate in the Solution Development Phase activities, Demo Day and post-challenge activities (July \u2013 September 2022).<\/span><\/li><li class=\"events-no-list\" style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;
