Francis Bu Sung Lee

Biography

Francis Bu Sung Lee is currently an Associate Professor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Nanyang Technological University. He is currently the Head of the Computing Division, College of Computing and Data Science, NTU. He graduated from Loughborough University, UK with B. Eng and Phd in 1982 and 1987 respectively. Bu-Sung Lee was the founding Director, Service Platform Lab, HP Labs(Singapore) 2010-2012. 

 

Bu-Sung Lee has been actively involved with the deployment of advanced networks in Singapore and the region. He is the founding (2003-2007) and current President of Singapore Advanced Research and Education Network (SingAREN). He has led the transformation of SingAREN into a National Research Infrastructure. He is active in the region, He has been been involved with Asia Pacific Advanced Network(APAN) since 1998 and currently Chair of the APAN network engineering WG. He is the current Chair of the Asi@connect governors meeting, and a member of the Asi@connect steering committee, funded by EU Aid to the tune of Euro 25 million over 7 years. The Asi@connect project has the goal of bridging the digital divide among countries in Asia through international research and education network connectivity and human capacity building. He is also a co-PI of the NSF funded TransPAC5 project, a project to build the network as well as research collaboration across the Pacific.
